Leadcom Compressor provided an energy-saving retrofit solution for the air compressor system at the Chongqing factory of Midea Group. After the upgrade, the project saves more than 500,000 kWh of electricity per year for the client.

At present, many enterprises commonly face issues such as air compressor system leakage, false air demand, and improper usage. As a result, the energy consumption of compressed air systems is significantly higher than the actual requirement.

In China, a large number of low-efficiency air compressors are still in operation. These systems not only consume excessive energy but also contribute to environmental pollution. Therefore, energy-saving retrofits for compressed air systems have become an urgent necessity for enterprises.

Before the Air Compressor Energy-Saving Retrofit

The enterprise was operating four aging air compressors from other brands, including one 120 kW unit and three 60 kW units.

  • Operating Pressure (MPa): 0.7
  • Total Operating Power (kW):
    120 + (3 × 60) = 300 kW

Considering the service factor:

  • 300 × Service Factor = 343 kW

The service factor represents the maximum allowable load capacity for a motor during long-term continuous operation. It is an important parameter used to measure a motor's capability to operate under continuous load conditions.

For example, if a motor is rated at 30 kW and has a service factor of 1.15, its actual maximum output power can reach:

30×1.15=34.5 kW30 \times 1.15 = 34.5\text

After the Air Compressor Energy-Saving Retrofit

The enterprise replaced the original system with five Leadcom G2-132PM-7 two-stage compression permanent magnet variable speed air compressors.

  • Operating Pressure (MPa): 0.71
  • Total Operating Power (kW):
    5 × 132 = 264 kW

Considering the service factor:

  • 264 × Service Factor = 278 kW

Assuming 8,000 operating hours per year, the enterprise can save nearly RMB 1.52 million in electricity costs annually after the upgrade.

As a result, production efficiency has improved while overall energy consumption has been reduced by 15%.

Recently, power consumption restrictions have been introduced in many regions across China. Under increasing pressure, enterprises need to accelerate transformation efforts and explore effective ways to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

To meet the growing demand for industrial energy efficiency, Leadcom is committed to helping enterprises unlock their energy-saving potential and promote green industrial development. We are now launching the “For a Bluer Sky” Partnership Program and welcome opportunities for further cooperation and discussion.
